although, so that & until

◆ although作連詞，意為“雖然；盡管”，同though一樣引導讓步狀語從句，既可放在句首也可放在句中；另外，在英語中although / though不能和but同時出現(xiàn)在一個句子中，但它們之間可進行句型轉(zhuǎn)換。如：

Although / Though Mary is thin, she’s very healthy. = Mary is very healthy although / though she is thin.

Although / Though my car is old, but it still runs very well. (×)

Although / Though my car is old, it still runs very well. (√)

My car is old, but it still runs very well. (√)

◆ so that作連詞，意為“以便”，可引導目的狀語從句。如：

Let’s leave now so that we can get there at one o’clock.

◆ until可作介詞，也可作連詞。

①當句子為肯定句時，until表示“一直到……時(為止)”或“在……之前”，這時句中或主句中的動詞為持續(xù)性動詞。如：

Wait until 12:00 / her mother comes back.

②當句子為否定句時，not ... until ... 表示 “直到……才……”。如：

I didn’t finish my homework until 11:00 last night / my parents fell asleep.
